Extraordinary vase with energetic relief of overlapping acanthus leaves by Svend Hammershøi (1873-1948) for Kähler Keramik, hand-formed and carved in earthenware glazed to great effect in teal layered with black to add shows and depth (the glazing technique being a less common variant of the white and black formulation created by Hammershøi’s associate Jens Thirslund to bring out the carved textures integral to the artist’s designs), “HAK” mark carved into underside, Denmark 1910-1930 / #OSHA105
