Dynamic and intriguing Art Deco vase created for Primavera, the decorative arts atelier of Parisian department store La Printemps. having an attenuated parabolic cone form on a demi-spherical base crafted in ceramic with an eggshell finish baby blue glaze; France, 1920s; Impressed Primavera “P” mark underneath. The vase was executed at the Atelier de Sainte-Radegonde faience factory near Tours and its design is attributed to René Buthaud, who served as its creative director from 1923 to 1926, and is thought to have been inspired by the bold geometric forms and tin glazes of Japanese Awaji style ceramics.
