Pair of lobed crystal table lamps designed by Olle Alberius for Orrefors Glasfabrik

Striking both for its sculptural lobed form and the marvelous light play it creates when lit, this pair of table lamps designed by Olle Alberius (1926-1993) for Orrefors Glasfabrik AB, a relatively rare model #2325/271), even given the boutique production numbers of the company’s luxurious artistic lines. Crafted in thick crystal by a master glassblower, the base is the designer’s reinterpretation of the distinctive lobed vessels of 5th century CE Persia, appearing as more of an abstract sculpture than artifact.
